Edge Outlook Express Backup
Can emails be restores using Outlook Express that were originally from another email program?
No. The backup must be restored using the same type of Email Client from which it was created. In other words, you can't restore to Outlook Express a backup file you originally created from Eudora or Incredimail.
Can my emails be restored on any version of Windows?
Yes.
Can I backup my email data from a network?
No. Outlook Express Backup Genie works off of the Windows Registry on your hard drive and needs to look into the registry to read the original email settings. You must install and run Outlook Express Backup Genie on the computer where you have Outlook installed.
Where is the backup file that I have just created?
You will personally specify the filename and location of the backup file just after you select exactly which identities to backup. By default, the backup path is C:\ and the filename will be generated from the name of Email Client and date.
Can I save my Email Files to a CD?
Yes! But first you must save a Backup Copy to your hard drive, then you can copy that file directly to the CD.
Does Outlook Express Backup Genie interfere with my Virus or Adware Protection Software?
No. Outlook Express Backup Genie should not interfere with any applications.
Why did I receive the error message: "this backup is not compatible with selected email client.”
You can’t try to restore a backup to an email client different from the one from which the backup was originally created. For example, you can’t create a backup of IncrediMail and restore it using Outlook Express.
My Outlook Express Backup Genie License Key isn’t working.
You have to enter both your name and the license key exactly as it reads on the order confirmation email you received. It is recommended that you cut and paste to ensure the License Key is exact and correct.
If you mistype the key, it will not be accepted.
After I completed a restore, it tells me the restore has been successful, but there aren’t any contacts, mail, or other data when I open Outlook Express. Did I do something wrong?
Before you run the restore process, open Outlook Express so that it can initialize some if its internal data. Once this is done, close the program. When you reopen it, you will be able to run the restore process.
